Derm style bandage
Thank you for getting tattooed! This bandage can be left on for 2-4 days. You would only need to remove the bandage early if it starts to come off of the tattoo, starts leaking fluid, or you notice irritation from the bandage. If you are notice any of these things remove as soon as possible following the steps below.
When you remove the bandage, do so under running warm water. It can be somewhat uncomfortable, so just remove at a comfortable pace for you. Once the bandage is completely removed you will clean it under running warm water with an unscented liquid hand soap. Dial gold, Dove unscented, and Dr Bronners are great name brands to look for. The shop also sells soaps for $5+tax.
Once the tattoo is completely cleaned you can pat dry with a paper towel or allow to completely air dry. Don’t wipe, and don’t use a multi use towel like a bath towel or kitchen towel directly on the tattoo.
Once your new tattoo is completely dry you can start moisturizing with an unscented lotion 2-3 times per day using a very small amount and rubbing in completely
You can refer to the page for Dri-loc healing for more information. Aftercare is all the same after bandage removal
what is normal
It is very normal for your tattoo appear dry, slightly flaky, and be itchy. Do not scratch or pick at it. Moisturizing will allow it to heal quicker and more comfortably. Don’t over saturate your tattoo with lotion as it can cause the scabs to become mushy and come off early, or be sticky and allow dirt and debris to stick to it. Your tattoo should be fully healed around a month from when it was done. Some people can heal slower or quicker, that is fine just keep moisturizing until the skin feels like normal.
